We compared ourselves to the tools five AI assistants recommend
We put LeadHunter USA in front of five AI assistants, alongside the tools they recommend to contractors, and asked them to compare. All five said to try it — most of them ahead of everything they had just named.
The head-to-head is below, then what those same assistants said before they knew we existed, then everything they said against us.
Every list of “best lead alert tools” you can find in this category was written by one of the vendors on it, and each one ranks itself first. This is what happened when we asked something with no stake in the answer.

What they said once they had read the site
This is a conversation, not a measurement. We named the product and asked each assistant to compare it against the tools it had already named in the same session. An answer you asked for is worth less than one you did not — so read this as evidence that the argument holds up, not that the product won a contest.

The most reserved of the five. Read the terms and flagged the annual commitment.
Four of the five put it ahead of everything they had just named. The fifth, Perplexity, did not — it said “worth testing” and told us not to sell anyone an annual plan. What the four agreed on is narrower than the number sounds, and the table below is what we found when we went and checked it ourselves.

Inside private groups, and still read-only
A combination, not a feature. LeadHall never posts but cannot see into private groups. Devi and Otomizer get inside and then post as you. Otomizer Local gets inside by putting a stranger in your neighborhood under your company name. Reaching private groups while touching nothing is the square none of them occupy.
Seven days free, and no card to get in
Groups Watcher states plainly that it offers no free trial. Devi charges a dollar and takes the card. Otomizer is pay-first with a refund window. LeadHall gives a demo, not the product. You can run ours for a week and walk away having typed no card number.
Your login never leaves your computer
Devi is the only other product that uses your own account, and it runs inside your everyday browser. Ours signs in inside an isolated session on your own disk. Nobody here can see it, because it is not here.

Zero out of five. If you are choosing a tool today and you ask an assistant, you will not hear about us. That is the true state of things and there is no way to present it as anything else.
What they said against us
Six objections came up. Four of them are fair and stay open. Two were factual errors, and one of those two was our fault.
No independent reviews
standsAll five said it. One called the product "not yet proven, battle-tested"; another noted the App Store has too few ratings to display a score at all.
Correct, and it is the honest reason to hesitate. The product is young and the review count says so. There is nothing to argue here — either people write them or they do not.
The annual plan is a bad risk for a cash-tight contractor
standsOne assistant read the terms, found that a refund depends on a sustained outage, and concluded the monthly plan is the safer purchase.
Fair. The monthly plan is $75 and cancels any time. Nobody starting out should commit for a year to a tool they have not run for a week — the free trial exists for exactly that reason and asks for no card.
It depends on platforms it does not control

"Leads are yours alone" reads like marketing
not accurateOne assistant took it to mean the alert is not resold, and flagged the phrasing as needing care.
The assistant was right and the phrase is gone. It meant what that assistant read it as — the alert is not sold to four other companies the way a marketplace lead is — but it could be heard as a promise that no other contractor saw the same public post, and nobody can promise that. Every page now says we do not sell leads at all, which is the part that is actually true — the subscription buys the software, and the post stays public to everyone else in the group.
The price is not on the site

Not accurate. $75 a month and $720 a year appear as plain text on the homepage, and the other four assistants found them. This one did not read far enough.
Water treatment is not a supported trade

Wrong, and our fault rather than theirs. Water treatment is supported — softeners, filtration and reverse-osmosis requests all match. It sits inside the plumbing catalog, and the site was only showing the top-level trades, so there was no way to see it from the outside.
How it was run
- Five assistants: ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Grok and Perplexity.
- Anonymous sessions, logged out, no account history that could carry a preference in.
- One persona throughout: a solo contractor working the Phoenix market who has paid for Angi and Thumbtack leads and stopped.
- Stage one named no product and asked no leading question. Stage two came only after stage one had been written down, so the first answer could not be revised.
- Assistant quotes are verbatim. Competitor prices are the figures the assistants quoted unless the row says the vendor page was checked directly.
Assistants do not give the same answer twice, and this was one run on one day in one market. Treat it as a snapshot with its method attached, which is more than any other comparison in this category comes with. We will run it again and publish the result whichever way it goes.
Straight answers
Did the AI assistants recommend LeadHunter USA on their own?
No. Asked which tool to use without naming any product, none of the five mentioned it. That result is printed at the top of this page. Five out of five recommended it only after being shown it and asked to compare — which is a useful answer to a different question.
Then why publish it?
Because the first half is the part a buyer actually needs, and because every other comparison in this category was written by a vendor who put itself first. A test that starts with our own zero is worth more than another list that starts with our own name.
Which tool did the assistants rank highest without prompting?
F5Bot, named by all five, because it is free — though it only covers Reddit. Among paid tools built for contractors, LeadHall was named twice and placed first both times.
What is the strongest argument against LeadHunter USA?
That it has almost no independent reviews yet. Every one of the five assistants raised it, and it is the correct thing to hold against a young product. The seven-day trial asks for no card, which is the only real answer available until reviews exist.
What did the assistants say makes it different?
That it reads private groups without ever posting. We checked that claim against every competitor afterwards and it held, but not for the reason the assistants gave: several rivals do reach private groups. The difference is that each of them either posts on your behalf, or has a stranger comment under your company name, or is locked out of private groups entirely. Reaching them read-only is the square nobody else occupies.
Is LeadHunter USA the cheapest or the fastest?
Neither, and we checked. Devi AI monitors community groups from $49 a month against our $75. Groups Watcher and Otomizer both advertise alerts inside 60 seconds; ours arrive in seconds to minutes. If price or raw speed is what decides it for you, those are the honest numbers to decide on.
The only honest close
We are not the one an assistant names yet. The seven-day trial asks for no card, and $75 a month is flat — not per city, not per group, not per lead. Run it for a week against whatever you are using and decide from your own leads rather than from this page.
