Groups Watcher alternatives for contractors

Groups Watcher is not the alert tool most people think they are shopping for any more. Knowing what it became is most of the decision — so that comes first, and the alternatives are sorted by what you actually want instead.

We make one of them. It is listed with its limits stated the same way as everyone else’s, and Groups Watcher gets a real answer for when you should stay with them.

What Groups Watcher actually is now

It started as keyword alerts out of Facebook groups. Today the homepage sells an outcome: “The moment a homeowner posts in a Facebook Group or Nextdoor asking for a home service you offer, you’ll be the first business they see.” The buttons say Claim My County.

Three things follow from that, all in their own words. They run 24/7 managed monitoring on their own infrastructure with alerts “in under 60 seconds”. They offer automatic comment templates, so the first reply under the homeowner’s post can happen without you. And they sell “one business per service, per county” — your competitor cannot buy the same thing in your area, and neither can you if someone got there first.

That is a managed service, not a notification app. It is a legitimate product and for some contractors it is the better one. It is simply not what somebody comparing alert tools on price is comparing.

Three things they don’t publish — ask before the demo

  1. 1. The price. There is no pricing page. We checked the homepage and three of their own articles on 12 September 2026 and found no figure on any of them. Ask for it in writing, and ask what it does at renewal.
  2. 2. Whose account joins the groups. Their own FAQ asks “Do you use my Facebook or Nextdoor account?” and the answer is not published. What is published is that they reach “public and private Facebook groups, including groups where you are a non-member, so you don’t need admin rights or group membership to receive alerts.” Somebody is inside those groups. Ask who.
  3. 3. What county exclusivity costs you. If it is sold and yours, it is a moat. If your county is already taken, the product is not available to you at any price — worth establishing in the first email rather than the third call.

The alternatives, by what you’re actually after

Every price below is published by the vendor.

I want the alert. I will do my own replying.

LeadHunter USA

ours
Price
$75/mo
flat, every area, published
Covers
Facebook groups + Nextdoor
Whose account
Yours, read-only

A desktop app on your own computer watches the local groups you are already a member of and your own Nextdoor feed, and pushes a matching post to your phone with a link straight to it. It never posts, comments, likes or messages, and it never contacts the homeowner for you.

Because it runs on your own membership it sees the private groups you have joined — and only those. That is the feature and the limit in the same sentence: if you are not in the groups, there is nothing for it to watch.

The price is on the website: $75 a month, every area, no county lock, no per-city multiplier. Seven days free with no credit card, so you can point it at your own groups before deciding.

I want the cheapest way into private groups.

One Stop Social

Price
$29/mo
25 groups; 7-day trial covers 5
Covers
Facebook groups only
Whose account
Yours, in your everyday browser

The least expensive route into private groups that exists. Their published plan is $29 a month to "Monitor 25 Facebook Groups (Public or Private)", with unlimited keywords and AI criteria and webhook notifications. The seven-day trial covers five groups.

It is a Chrome extension, and that is the whole trade-off. It sees private groups because it is you, signed in, in the browser you already use — and it stops when that browser does. There is no Nextdoor.

One Stop Social

I also want LinkedIn, Reddit and X, not just groups.

Devi AI

Price
$49/mo
Facebook groups; +$9/mo per extra platform
Covers
Facebook, Nextdoor, LinkedIn, X, Reddit, and more
Whose account
Not published

The broadest coverage here and the least specific to trades. Their published pricing is $49 a month for Facebook Groups covering 25 groups, then $9 a month for each additional platform — Nextdoor, LinkedIn, X, Reddit, Quora, YouTube, WhatsApp Groups, Telegram and others are each priced the same. Facebook plus Nextdoor therefore lands at $58. Extra groups are $2 each, and the trial is $1 for ten days.

Breadth is the trade-off, not a bonus. A tool tuned for social listening across ten networks is not tuned for "homeowner two streets over needs a water heater", and you will spend the difference filtering.

Devi AI

I want nothing installed and nobody logged into anything.

Leadhall

Price
$99/mo
their words: "Starting price, based on coverage area"
Covers
Nextdoor + public Facebook surfaces
Whose account
Nobody’s — watches from outside

Their own words: "Unlike Chrome extension competitors, Leadhall never logs into your accounts or scrapes from your browser. Your social profiles stay clean." That is a real argument and worth taking seriously if account safety is what is bothering you.

It is also the constraint, and they state it: "These are public posts in local communities, so anyone can see them." A private group you belong to is invisible from outside, and that is where a lot of the "anyone know a good plumber?" volume sits.

The price scales with coverage area rather than being flat, so ask what your area costs before comparing the headline to anything else on this page.

Leadhall

When you should stay with Groups Watcher

If you want somebody else to do the replying. Nothing else on this page will answer a homeowner for you. Speed decides these jobs, and if you are on a roof at 2pm you are not first — their templates are, and that is the product you are buying.

If reaching groups you have not joined matters more than anything else. A tool running on your own membership can only ever see your own groups. Theirs is not limited that way. That is genuinely more coverage, and if your own group list is thin it is the difference between a tool that works and one that does not.

If you want your county locked. No other product here offers exclusivity. If you can get it in your area and afford it, nobody else in your trade gets the same head start.

They also have the best content operation in this category by a distance — around fifty articles and a page for most search phrases in it. If you have read anything about monitoring Facebook groups for leads, you have probably read one of theirs. That is worth saying on a page like this one.

LeadHunter USA — $75 a month flat across every area, Facebook groups and Nextdoor, running on your own membership and read-only: it never posts, comments or messages, and we never resell your leads. Seven days free, no credit card.

Common questions

What does Groups Watcher cost?

They do not publish it. Their pricing page is gone and every product page ends at "book a demo" — we checked the homepage and three of their own articles on 12 September 2026 and found no figure on any of them. Ask for the number in writing before the demo, and ask what happens to it at renewal once your county is locked to you.

Does Groups Watcher use my Facebook account?

They do not say, and the question is on their own FAQ without a published answer. What they do state is this: their monitoring reaches "public and private Facebook groups, including groups where you are a non-member, so you don't need admin rights or group membership to receive alerts." Being inside a private group you are not a member of means some account is in there. Ask them whose it is — it is a fair question and any vendor should answer it plainly.

What is the difference between an alert tool and what Groups Watcher sells now?

An alert tool tells you a homeowner posted and gets out of the way — you open the post and reply as yourself. Groups Watcher now sells the reply too, from their infrastructure, with automatic comment templates, and locks one business per service per county so a competitor cannot buy the same thing. Those are different products at different prices, and which one you want is the actual decision.

Which of these sees private Facebook groups?

Only something that is inside the group. LeadHunter USA is inside because you are — it watches groups you have already joined, signed in as you, and never posts. One Stop Social is inside the same way, through a Chrome extension in your normal browser. Groups Watcher reaches groups you are not a member of at all. Leadhall watches from outside and sees public posts only — in their own words, "These are public posts in local communities, so anyone can see them."

Is there a free trial anywhere?

LeadHunter USA is seven days free with no credit card. One Stop Social's seven-day trial covers five groups. Devi AI charges $1 for ten days. Groups Watcher does not publish a trial or a price.

How current is this page?

Every quotation and figure was read off the vendor’s own live page on 12 September 2026. Where a vendor does not publish something, this page says it is not published rather than repeating a number from a forum or a directory. Prices in this category move often — check before you buy, and write to support@leadhunterusa.com if you find something out of date here.

Corrections welcome. If you run one of these products and something here is out of date or wrong, write to support@leadhunterusa.com and we will check it and change it.
