Texting registration

Scout says: The carriers want to meet your business first.

Last updated:

Texts from your business number need the carriers’ approval first. $30 one time, with one free fix. As little as 24 hours, up to 3 weeks.

What it is

US phone carriers ask every business that texts from a regular number to register first. We send your registration for you.

Until it is approved, your customers’ texts still reach you. Texts from your business number, including the missed-call text, turn on by themselves once it is approved. We email you then.

Calls don’t wait for it. They work from the start.

What it costs

$30, one time. Non-refundable. One free fix if the carriers send it back.

Add it when you sign up, or later on the Business Line page with Turn on texting ($30 once).

After the free fix, sending it again costs $15, only on the website and only after you agree. When the carriers sent it back over our part, there is no charge.

How long it takes

As little as 24 hours, up to 3 weeks. A new EIN takes longer.

If your EIN is new, the IRS records aren’t ready yet. The Business Line page shows the date we will send your registration.

No EIN? As a sole proprietor you get a text on your cell. Reply with only the word YES, within 24 hours. Missed it? Press Send it again on the Business Line page. That’s free.

An LLC or a corporation needs its EIN for texting.

If it says “sent back by the carriers”

The carriers need a change before they approve it. The Texting: sent back by the carriers card says what, in plain words. For example:

Your business name must match your IRS EIN letter (CP 575) exactly. Your business type and address must match your IRS records. A PO box is not accepted. Your website must open and show your business name and the work you do.

Fix what it says, then press Send it again. When the change is on our side, like the sample texts, we fix it and send it again for you.
