Default terms and sample wording
Last updated:
Write your terms once for every quote and invoice. Sample wording has blanks you fill in; the words are yours.
Scout says: I bring the blanks. You bring the numbers.
Set your default terms
- Step 1: Open Quote & invoice settings.
- Step 2: Under Default terms & conditions, write the terms for your quotes and for your invoices.
- Step 3: Press Save settings. New quotes and invoices start with them.
Terms print small at the end of each document. You can change them on one quote or invoice; Save as my default keeps the change for next time.
Documents you already sent keep what they were sent with.
Sample wording
Press Add common wording for sample lines: materials, payment due, late fee, warranty, changes, returned checks and hidden conditions.
Each __ is a blank only you can fill in, like the number of days or the late fee. You can’t save while a blank is left.
The words are yours
Sample wording is a starting point, not legal advice. You choose your terms, and you are responsible for them.
Edit each line to fit your work and your state. If you aren’t sure, ask someone who knows your state’s rules.
Also in settings
A Default note to the customer, a Footer line, and How to pay (optional), for example your Zelle name or who checks are payable to.
